I would like to have a confirmation on how this actually does what we expect. pberry-pi/, simply consists in adding a line to the /boot/config.txt file. Lastly, the installation protocol described here for example. In any case, if the VC-1 codec (or its WVC1 implementation if I understand well) is freely available for some mediaplayers (like vlc), why isn't it implemented in omxplayer? And why is it not free to install this codec on RPi ? Thus, isn't the VC-1 codec "OpenSource" itself? But then, VLC, which is a free OpenSource soft, can decode VC-1.

I'll probably say lots of silly thing, don't hesitate to (gently) correct meįirst of all, if I understand well, a codec is like a "protocol" on how to code/decode a video. This brought several questions to my mind, and I would like to be enlightened. I saw that it was possible to buy the appropriate codec here:, and (I hope), install it for the best. I then installed mediainfo, and discovered that the video format is VC-1, which omxplayer apparently can't decode natively. After having set the GPU_mem to 128M, I tried again, and it was no better. However, omxplayer, can't seem to be able to read a particular video. I'm kind of a newb here, and recently figured out how to stream movies from my desktop pc('s shared folder) to the pi, and redirect that to my TV, which is great.
